Exercise Is Important for all Ages

Exercise Is Important for All Ages

There’s no age limit on Exercising

Have you ever met someone who seems to defy aging? Their agility, energy levels, and vitality make them appear far younger than their age and inspire you to get moving! Sure, great genes help with aging, but there is plenty you can do to ensure you have exceptional energy and vitality as you age too.

Keep on Moving!

The value of exercise is nothing new. It’s well known that exercise helps prevent obesity, boost immunities, and build healthy bodies.  As we age, exercise becomes more and more important and we must choose to add it to our lifestyle. While some people love intense and vigorous workouts, they aren’t necessary for health, All that matters is carving out time for exercise on a routine basis.

Keeping joints, bones, and muscles healthy becomes important as we age. This is an important time to ensure a healthy BMI, good bone density, and healthy circulation in preparation for the elder years. While social activity is just as valuable for mental health, physical fitness takes on a bigger role in longevity and overall health than ever before.

As we move into the senior years of our lives, independence becomes a commodity. Mobility and a strong mind ensure we can live independently and healthfully. Even though aging people have diminishing body mass, it doesn’t mean they can’t stay fit and live healthy and long lives. Exercise helps aging bodies maximize themselves and prevents rapid decline in mobility and cognition.

There’s no age limit on exercise. It’s vital at all stages of our lives. Being fit and moving our bodies, even with limitations, matters. You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from exercise. All you need is the commitment to keep on moving!

3 Reasons to Keep a Medication List

I don’t know about you but I find it extremely frustrating when I go to a new primary care doctor or a referred specialist’s office and after checking in, I’m given a packet of forms to fill out while waiting to see the doctor.

The frustration comes when I’m asked to list my medications /strength/dosage.  So here I am sitting there trying to remember the long complicated generic names.

I only have a couple of prescribed medications but I know there are some folks that have a lot more and are just as frustrated as I am.

Well … I got your back on this one.  I created a free printable handy form, (“Medication List Form”) for you to list your medications. Leave those prescription bottles at home and take this form with you instead.  I used the form on my last doctor’s appointment; I attached it to the stack of forms they gave me to complete and I had one less form to finish!

Here are 3 Reasons why you should keep a list of your prescription information:

  1. New doctor visits – As I explained above when visiting a new doctor or a new referred doctor, having a prepared list of medications will save you time and eliminate a little of the frustration that comes with completing the forms given to you at the new office.
  2. Share with a family member – Sometimes a family member or friend will need to take you to a medical appointment or has to talk to your physician on your behalf. Wouldn’t it be nice to just hand them your prepared list of meds rather than trying to wrack your brain for the much-needed info?
  3. Selecting a new health plan – When considering a new health plan the benefits may seem better than the plan you currently have but those benefits won’t hold water if your current medications are not on the new plan’s formulary list of covered medications. So to be sure your meds are covered, give your health insurance agent your prepared list and have them look up each medication to make sure they are covered and the co-pay is not more than what you are currently paying.

When you signed up for our blog, the form was yours to download. If you didn’t get it you can access it via our Resources page.  Use it at your next doctor’s visit or if you don’t have any prescription meds, print it for a family member or friend to use. The form is a downloadable PDF file. Save it, type on it, update it and print it out whenever you need it.
